coexistapart's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the wealthy barber I cannot really remember what I have written, other than I believe I had an observational entry at the airport on Wednesday. Last night my aunt & uncle drove down to their daughter's house for Adi's 4th birthday. She has gone "princess" full-throttle since I last saw her (April), meaning that my cowgirl outfit did not quite have the reaction that everyone thought it would, but I was just pleased that I was able to get such a conscientious gift for $24 and it fit. We had typical summer food (burgers, salad, chocolate cake) although it POURED all day driving in. I continued to marvel at how simple, stylish, and easily convertible their house is in terms of looking pristine one minute, and then kid-friendly the next. I also spent some time thinking about E's overall appearance: she is complete comfortable dressing up for neice's birthday; I figure she does not do it very often, and prides herself in both her figure in appearance after even two kids. What I find interesting is trying to figure out the logic in terms of observations: does she "need" it or does it just happen? I was dressed for the cottage, still, so she looked even better than I did in a slightly-too-high-wasited khaki skirt with vertical pleats, a tucked-in white fitted office shirt, and a huge amber pendant. I love how independent she is in her style. Incidentally, her husband (my cousin) has stepped over the threshold into middle age and is looking SO much better than ever. I have no idea it is that business is going well (people are paying good $$ for him to cart away garbage during the last 30 days of the city strike here in TO), his boys are at a good age (8, 4), and life is looking pretty good for him after he dealt with his alcohol addictions four years ago. He has grown a small beard, cut his hair on the sides, and he looks very, very, very attractive. I was shocked. He has never looked unattractive, in fact he is the "frat boy" of the family, but either through confidence or changes to his place in life, he looks awesome. I feel happy for them. They just came back from Russia at the end of June, an old UCC friend got married in St. Petersburg. They had all kinds of fabulous stories to tell; it got me to thinking that maybe I would go to Ukraine in September, see (and photograph!) all the old haunts. Airfare would be more up front, but I think it should still be cheaper day-to-day. Nora and I are just off to run some stairs so I do not have more time. After that we are meeting Jen to pick up storage keys, talk about Anna; I would like to get some chicken burgers from Cumbrae's, and return my printer to Best Buy, and then we are going to a BBQ later at Stephanie's. 9:06 a.m. - 2009-07-26 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
