coexistapart's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marchy-poo Saturdays are not exactly my favourite day of the week. I mean the essence of a Saturday, the fact that a lot of people have the day off of work, should make me excited, but the fact of the matter is that I've never really liked Saturdays. When I was little Saturdays meant Ukrainian school in the morning, and a mid-afternoon piano lesson or a long, dull, boring afternoon of not being in school--the silence in the house broken only by Saturday Afternoon at the Opera and MAYBE The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show at 4pm...if I was lucky. In high school it was not uncommon to have multiple club meetings on a Saturday; and then at university I worked a lot of Saturday mornings, often 6am until noon or even 2-3pm making me exhausted by dinner time. When friends and I book time off to go out to eat, Saturday is rarely the day to do it unless you really want to brave the crowds; at most the last year I was in Toront I remember going to St. Lawrence here and there and cooking myself a special dinner, only to pass out so that I either sleep in or wake up early to go *back* to work on Sunday. So it is with some degree of sadness that I get to 5 or 6pm on the average Saturday down in Las Cruces and think *sigh* Delilah's not on the radio tonight, because while I don't listen to her every night by any stretch, and particularly the last week she's been driving me crazy, Saturday nights are usually quiet and dull. I waste a lot of time on the internet, as I have tonight, because Big likes to watch a movie and I put off going to the gym. At least having the excuse of listening to the radio being streamed kind of makes it "ok" to waste 4 hours doing little of anything. Tonight I was kind of obsessed with the realization that I can get CDs I've wanted for my entire life for $3-5 each, including shipping on eBay. I only need to make a copy to my iTunes, and then have something to play on the desktop PC, so what do I care if the jewel case has a few scratches? Prices have gone down substantially, but being in LC half the time I resist buying at the stores because Amazon is 15-25% cheaper. I am excited for the new Kelly Clarkson CD to come out in two weeks, but I think my thing for the moment will be amassing all the CDs from 2004-2007 that I don't have, but really really wanted. Stephanie, Amy, and I are going to Boston in two weeks. I've been searching online for sights to go and see, and like an idiot only just *now* realized I have a "New England" tour book from last October. Lunch at Pepper's is not worth recounting. It was typically bad service in the vein of a meal with 14 people is always going to have service associated with a meal that includes 14 people. I think this is the first & last time I will bowl at Sun Lanes; it was positively gross. I scrubbed my hands three times at the end of it all. The one good thing to come out of it was that I had 8-10 strikes with an 8lb ball; I was really able to up my speed with such a light ball. Apparently you can't order a Caesar in the United States, everything is a Bloody Mary? The drink I had was nice, but it just was not the same--it lacked a lot of the thick, depth of flavor. Tomorrow we are going shooting, I think. And then to sit out in the sun. I need to go to the gym. I've already flipped over my calendar to March, and I could not be more delighted. 11:14 p.m. - 2009-02-28 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
