coexistapart's Diaryland Diary

Christmas with the in-laws

Tapping out an entry on Big's blackberry. We're at his mom's house and his sister and neice and everyone just left so we're hanging out in the living room with his younger brother. I'm in an arm chair, with me feet up on the couch suffering from classic holiday overeating of junk food-- thankfully for the first and last time this year.

I'm trying to think what to write... I feel like, seeing as it's Christmas Eve I should say something profound....

I do know that the end of 2008 has, quite thankfully, just snuck up on me. I can't believe that it's that time of the year already, time to do my year-end review and gain some perspective on all that was and WASN'T this year. I've come a long way with regards to some things (Big, positive steps forward in our relationship) while, generally, I feel that personally and professionally I have been largely a failure. But more on that this Saturday when I try to do my year end review.

I'm tired because we got up early this morning to drive the 10 hours to Denver, but that also just feels like I a metaphor for my life right now. I'm tired and just ready for some stability and knowledge of what the future brings.

Big and I did not fight per se during the drive--usually it's just us trying to have deep conversations to pass the time, and one of us ends up being too honest with no opportunity for the other individual to withdraw.Anyway. So I got to thinking about applying for the foreign service again. That would just solve so many problems, and allow me the opportunity to do something for the next few years.

Ikind of wish I could go to church tonight, but it's going to be kind of complicated.

eBay went kind of ok, better than I expected actually; I'm just excited to have a break from all the rude, demanding people for a week.

I need some new winter boots for Canada on Saturday. They already have 2-3 feet of snow given that they're out in the country. I'm also glad to get a rest. The UGGs I want are sold out in my size, so we'll see what's on sale Friday.

I still need to wrap a bunch gifts tomorrow. I think it'll be pretty low key; I don't have any gifts to open whose contents I don't already know: more Wedgewood and a rooster painting. Let's see if I get the chamce to lie down and read; I have lots I can crochet next week.

Big bout me a pink golf bag, tennis racquet, and various other related sporting accessories.
